LabVIEW Robotics

This graphical system design software provides a standard development platform for designing robotic and autonomous control systems. It delivers an extensive robotics library with connectivity to standard robotic sensors and actuators, foundational algorithms for intelligent operations and perception and motion functions for robots and autonomous vehicles.

With this software, engineers and scientists now can implement ideas with seamless deployment to real-time embedded and field-programmable gate array (FPGA) hardware, and can maximize the software flexibility through integration with a variety of processing platforms, third-party software tools and prebuilt robot platforms.

Because of its open graphical system design platform, the software can import code from other languages including C/C++, .m files and VHDL, and communicate with a wide variety of sensors using built-in drivers for everything from LIDAR, IR, sonar and GPS devices to reduce development time. In addition, the software includes new robotics IP capable of implementation to real-time and embedded hardware for obstacle avoidance, inverse kinematics and search algorithms.

The LabVIEW graphical programming environment provides a comprehensive software continuum flexible enough to power advanced research as well as provide a hands-on approach to robotics education.

The LabVIEW graphical programming environment simplifies programming complex robotics applications by providing a high level of abstraction, the ability to import code from other languages – including C and HDL – and communication with a wide variety of sensors so you can focus on adding your own algorithms and intelligence.

The NI Robotics Starter Kit is an out-of-the-box mobile robot platform complete with sensors, motors, and NI Single-Board RIO hardware for embedded control. With NI LabVIEW graphical programming and the LabVIEW Robotics Module, programming an autonomous mobile robot is easy. Take advantage of the LabVIEW Robotics built-in IP for sensing, steering, navigation, and more, or use the platform to design and test your own algorithms. The simplicity of this starter kit makes it ideal for teaching robotics and mechatronics concepts or for prototyping your first robotics research project.

The NI Robotics Starter Kit uses an NI Single-Board RIO embedded controller mounted on top of a Pitsco TETRIX erector robot base. The controller is a low-cost embedded deployment solution that integrates a real-time processor, reconfigurable field-programmable gate array (FPGA), and analog and digital I/O on a single board. It is powered by LabVIEW Real-Time and LabVIEW FPGA technologies. You can expand the built-in analog and digital I/O using NI C Series modules.
