NI CompactRIO Power Measurement System Print E-mail

The NI CompactRIO Power Measurement System includes the core hardware you need for creating a custom power monitoring or control system with NI LabVIEW software. The two modules for voltage and current measure at up to 50 kS/s per channel and send the entire waveform stream through the field-programmable gate array (FPGA) to the host processor. With LabVIEW, the RTOS on the controller, and the FPGA in the chassis, you can use standard measurements or custom algorithms in your system design. This feature alleviates many of the issues commonly found in “black box” power measurement products that offer limited debugging functions for nonstandard problems or power features.

  • 3-phase power measurement hardware
  • 300 Vrms measurement (3 channels)
  • 5 Arms (14 A peak) measurement (4 channels)
  • 50,000 S/s/ch simultaneous waveform acquisition
  • Included RTOS and FPGA programmable with NI LabVIEW
  • Flexible storage and communication options

NI LabVIEW Driver for DNP3 Outstation Support

DNP3 (Distributed Network Protocol) is a set of open communication protocols commonly used in electrical and water utilities. SCADA systems use DNP3 to communicate between a master station, remote terminal units (RTUs), and intelligent electronic devices (IEDs). NI real-time targets may be programmed as DNP3 outstation devices with advanced functionality, such as power quality monitoring, phasor measurements, and other smart grid-related analysis.

  • DNP3 level 3 outstation support for NI CompactRIO, NI Single-Board RIO, and PXI
  • Graphical programming environment with NI LabVIEW 2009 or later
  • Communication over Ethernet (TCP and UDP) and serial (RS232 and RS485)
  • Support for multiple channels and multiple sessions
  • Support for file transfer and time synchronization between the master and outstation
